WHO WE ARE
The club began as the Bichon Frise Club for the
Pacific Northwest in July 1982, and held it’s first sanctioned
match in October 1982 with 41 entries at the Clark County
Fairgrounds in Vancouver Washington.
The club served Bichon Fanciers from British Columbia,
Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Montana and Idaho.
The club hosted its first National Specialty in 1987.
On February 14, 1988 at a meeting in Longview, Washington the
constitution and bylaws were amended and the name of the club was
changed to “The Bichon Frise Club of Puget Sound.”
The club now serves Washington and Oregon.
The objects of the Club shall be:
to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of pure-bred
Bichon Frises and to do all possible to bring their natural
qualities to perfection;
to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the
breed as approved by The American Kennel Club as the only standard
of excellence by which Bichon Frise shall be judged;
to do all in its
power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by
encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows;
to conduct sanctioned and licensed specialty shows under the
rules of The American Kennel Club.
